Unique Wedding Entertainment Ideas Your Guests Will Love

When it comes to your wedding day, you want it to be unique & unforgettable. For your guests, your wedding reception will play a big role in determining if it's a celebration they'll never forget. Let's be real, we all want our wedding receptions to be the one that people talk about for years to come! We dream of gorgeous signature cocktails and a dance floor that is packed all night long. But how do you take your reception to the next level? How do you create an evening that is unlike any other reception your guests have been to? Entertainment!

There are so many different ways that you can entertain your guests throughout the evening. From photo booths to dessert bars, we're sharing some of our favorite entertainment ideas to ensure a one-of-a-kind wedding day!

1. Hire live music for your ceremony & cocktail hour

live music

Live music during your ceremony or cocktail hour can elevate your guests' experience and make them feel as if they're a part of a private concert. A pianist, string quartet, or a harpist are just a few lovely options for your wedding ceremony. Seriously, could you imagine walking down the aisle to one of those beautiful instruments?

Keep the vibe going into your cocktail hour with an acoustic guitarist. Your guests will be blown away by their talent, and eager to see what the rest of the night brings!

2. Photo Booth

Honestly, you can't go wrong with a photo booth. It is such a great option for your guests to have during the reception, especially for those who don't dance. Line too long at the bar? Jump in the photo booth quickly! Need a break from the dance floor? Go snap a quick pic! Not only do the funny props make the pictures so fun to look back on, but photo booth pictures serve as a great favor for your guests as well.

3. Skip the cake

While we all love a good wedding cake, offering a dessert bar or other dessert alternatives is so much fun for your guests! Whether that be a donut wall, mini cupcakes, bundt cakes, or ice cream, giving your guests options makes them feel like they've been a part of wedding planning. Plus, out of the ordinary desserts are so fun for pictures!

4. Build your own drinks

hot cocoa bar

If you're getting married in the fall or winter, a hot cocoa bar is a perfect way to keep your guests warm & entertained. This is perfect for guests of all ages, but the little ones will especially love decorating their tasty treat with whipped cream and candy canes!

On the flip side of things, if you're getting married in the warmer months consider something like a lemonade or a snow cone bar. It'll be so much fun for your guests to all feel like little kids again with any candy toppers, and they will be so thankful for something cool to sip on in the summer heat!

5. Hire a DJ

It's no secret that music is needed to get any party started. A DJ is one of the best ways to get everyone out of their seat and on the dance floor! Every DJ has their own little tricks to keep your guests entertained and having fun all night long.

6. Hire a live band

If a DJ isn't your style, a live band is another wonderful form of entertainment for your reception! A live band will engage your guests, and get them out on the dance floor to sing and dance like at a concert. There is no doubt that your guests will love a live band!

7. Lawn games

Classic lawn games like giant jenga, croquet, connect four, or corn hole are perfect ways to ensure your guests are having a good time during the cocktail hour and reception. It's a given that your guests will have a good time if you have some of these games for them to enjoy!

8. Table games

Table games are the perfect way to provide entertainment and ice breakers for your guests at their dinner tables. Simply print some cards with prompts like "tell a funny story about the groom" or "name your top 3 vacation spots" and let the conversations flow!

9. Surprise first dance

One of our favorite ways to keep your guests on the edge of their seats is with a surprise first dance. Start your first dance with your partner, father, mother, or family member/friend as a "normal" slow dance. Then when your guests least expect it, break out into a choreographed dance routine. The crowd will go wild! We guarantee they'll be talking about it for weeks to come.

10. Fun send offs

Have you heard the phrase "go out with a bang?" Quite literally doing this is such a perfect way to end your amazing wedding day, and will leave your guests in awe. Some incredible send offs include sparklers, confetti, glitter, or even a fireworks display! Just be sure to confirm with your wedding venue that whatever you're dreaming of is possible within their space.
